Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (Specializing in Heavy Equipment) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports to: Fleet Manager or Maintenance Supervisor

Company Overview: Seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic with extensive experience in maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet, which includes Semi trucks, Heavy duty fork lifts, flatbed & lowboy trailers, diesel vehicles

Job Summary: The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and hydraulic systems on a variety of heavy equipment used in equipment moving, fleet vehicles and other equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both routine maintenance and complex repairs on equipment listed. This position plays a key role in ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of heavy equipment, including semi trucks, fleet vehicles, trailers, forklifts, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and braking systems.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid level checks, and brake inspections to ensure vehicle longevity and safety.
  • Fleet Management:
    • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on vehicles and equipment.
    • Ensure all equipment is compliant with local, state, and federal safety and emissions regulations.
    • Assist in managing the maintenance schedule to minimize downtime for vehicles.
    • Safety & Compliance:
      • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE and following procedures for hazardous materials handling.
      • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards. Qualifications:
        • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles such as semi trucks, trailers and heavy duty forklifts. Must have experience with multiple engine types
        • Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in diesel mechanics preferred but not required. CDL required
        • Skills:
          • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and brake repairs.
          • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
          • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
          • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment.
          • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair is preferred. Physical Requirements:
            • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
            • Must be able to work in outdoor conditions and various weather environments.
